Colored Pencil Flower - The CreativeMindClass Blog

If I could pick just one word to represent my style of drawing, it would be 'Spring'.

I'd like for people to view my artwork and feel that the way they're blossoming like a warm spring of flowering blooms.

Cottagecore is my lifestyle that I have chosen and believe in. It could be because I'm from Seoul the largest city in Korea, so I admire the natural beauty and rural lifestyle much more than what I catch in their sight daily.

So rather than spreading intensity instead, I prefer to express a peaceful and tranquil mood, like what I observe in nature.

What is the key to making your illustrations?

In the beginning, I'd like to talk about the things that I find inspiration in. I focus on happiness in small items. Flowers I see in a garden, the whispers of flowers that flutter when wind blows or even a tiny flower at the corner of the street that I walk by while walking.

I am primarily inspired by small wildflowers. Natural landscapes from old botanical encyclopedias and rural landscapes are also a source of ideas. I save a lot of material through photos and frequently take notes on coloring pencil concepts.

Then, let's look at the technique of work. I draw to the extent of intricate details, in the manner of actual flowers. I also convey my emotions with color.

I use sharp colored pencils with pointed tips to express the shape of the flower. It is then set with a gentle warm and cozy atmosphere using pastel tones rather than bright hues.

I like also to juxtapose the plain and texture of paper by using the technique of paper flowers in order to give the appearance of flowers in bloom.

In contrast to drawing simply, I think crafting paper flowers creates a much greater sense of beauty. This is a closer translation of what I have in my head.

My name's Yeo Jin and I'm a colored pencil artist illustrator and writer based in Seoul. My artwork is based around flowers as they always bring me happiness!

I have so far published six colored pencil tutorial books. I have also collaborated with brands for illustrations. I'm currently teaching students of drawing and have also created products I sell in online stores as well as in local stores.

I have my colorful pencil drawings in Instagram and through my website.

I'd like to introduce my Youtube channel. My vlogs focus on travel but they also contain various travel-related drawings and inspirations (mostly drawn with colored pencils) that I draw during my travels.
