5 Reasons to Join Our New Slack Community: Global SaaS Leadership --

Mar 23, 2022

The short version of this article is this:

  • We just launched a newly-created (free!) Slack community: Global SaaS Leaders.
  • The program is open to the leaders of established SaaS and software businesses (including founders! ).

We're starting a new free Slack group

Because communities are amazing!

No, seriously.

There are many additional SaaS and software community out there. Some of them are excellent.

However, when we considered making the type of community wouldlike to be part of, we saw an opportunity to create something completely new.

We created Global SaaS Leaders as a space with five unique qualities:

1. Global focus

We found many SaaS and software-based communities that were U.S.-based or that were based around a specific location.

Global SaaS Leaders will be distinct. may be located in the U.S., but our clients and the broader SaaS community are spread all over the world.

As we develop our community, we'll be focused on acquiring a wide member base and global view.

2. The design is geared towards leaders of long-standing SaaS and software companies

The most interesting software chats we came across on the web were around starting the first SaaS company:

Discussions like this are beneficial for those who are trying to build an SaaS.

With that said, we discovered that it's extremely difficult to find useful dialogue between executives from well-established software and SaaS companies.

That's why we've chosen to build an online community of SaaS leaders thinking about growing and scaling up an already established software company, not building minimum feasible products or seeking seed financing.

If you're a lifestyle entrepreneur who has an unfunded SaaS already doing $10,000 a month, we want to assist you in connecting with other entrepreneurs like you.

Similar to if you're the developer leader at a venture-backed start-up that just crossed $10 million a year.

This is the goal we will pursue in Global SaaS Leaders: to create a space in which you can discuss the specific challenges you face after you reach product-market fit and begin to grow.

3. Professionally moderated

It is the work of a determined and talented moderator (or group of moderators!) to create a positive, welcoming culture within a community.

We've gained a lot of knowledge from the Reddit community r/entrepreneur, as an example.

However, even communities with high-quality amenities like this one sometimes struggle with concentration. It's telling that the No. 1 thread this year is an angry post on how the rise of cryptocurrency has dominated the stream:

Katie Stephan and Nathan Collier (authors of this article!) will be the first moderators as we launch our Global SaaS Leaders community.

We have spent more than a decade managing online communities that have thousands of users.

Furthermore, the creation and launch of this community is part of our job descriptions.

The conversation will remain focused to SaaS as well as software and we'll make sure you won't have to deal with unwelcome offers, spam, personal attacks, or trolling of any sort.

4. It is not focused on venture capital , or funding rounds.

It doesn't matter if you're in a bootstrap, venture funded, private equity purchased, or some other ownership model.

Global SaaS Leaders won't be a location that focuses on funding rounds or exit strategies.

We hope instead to establish a forum where you can have conversations about hiring, revenue profits, tools, pricing models, technical infrastructure, and anything that is related to building the business of software.

It's OK for members to periodically discuss funding. It shouldn't be the the only discussion.

5. The most supportive SaaS and software community anywhere on the internet.

Certain online communities can be dangerous places.

Whoever you are, wherever you're from, and whatever your experience, we'd like you to feel comfortable posting and participating in our forum.

Katie me and Katie will try all we can to create and foster a supportive and positive culture in this new community. Also, we'll not stand for personal attacks, bigotry, racism, sexism, or other unwelcome behavior.

Our target is no less than this: to create the most supportive SaaS and software-based community on the web.

How do I join the Global SaaS Leaders Community

If you're an executive at an established SaaS firm, we'd love to have you in our community!

It's not a short request form, but we use it to verify the integrity of the community -- and to screen out any likely spammers.

And there's an FAQ on the application page that might provide answers to your queries.

We hope you'll join us!
