AAPI Heritage Month Employee Showcase: Paul Choi

May 9, 2022

Paul Choi is a Senior Community Manager here at . We're turning the spotlight over to him via our blog to highlight his contribution to a important moment in Asian American and Pacific Islander time, and much many more!

Can you elaborate on what you do in the first place ?

As part of the Community team, we oversee our oversight of the Hero Community and other community driven initiatives as well as sources. Our goal is to help connect customers around the world and to empower our Heroes to succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors through community programs and resources.

What's an accomplishment in your career you're particularly happy about?

What is your experience with your own cultural personal identity affected your experience in tech?

It's something I'm trying to understand my own self.

Do you celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and if so what does it mean to you?

It's not really AAPI Heritage Month, but growing up I celebrated and was a part of Korean heritage and cultural events that included festivals as well as different campaigns. As with many others, I've learned how important these types of occasions and cultural events can be in understanding the concept of identity and belonging.

Could you share an event or person in AAPI past that was meaningful for you?

The most meaningful would have to be my parents, along with the many families from the immigrant community who left themselves to seek out higher-quality opportunities elsewhere. It's a bit mind-blowing to look at the challenges facing the older generations of the AAPI group. Also, I have to affirm that I'll never forget what an experience Linsanity was...so thank you at Jeremy Lin!

In what ways do you take part in the AAPI community?

I typically seek out communities in my workplaces where I spend the most time. Therefore, in my college years I took part heavily with KSA (the Korean Students Association) as well as at other places of work I've been involved in various AAPI focused ERGs.

What are you most excited when you work there ?

My favorite part of working with is the people and the teams which I get to work with. I am extremely grateful for the warm and supportive atmosphere that's been developed, and witnessing the passion that exists in our products and clients is truly inspiring to work in.

Do you have any other information you'd like to share on the subject with our blog readers?

A shameless invitation to our customers to join our Hero Community! We're going to continue to create the most engaging, and enriched community experience possible and we'd love to have members of the community!
