Are there methods to let AI unlock the creativity potential of people? Perspectives of filmmakers and Vice President of Creative

Sep 24, 2023

There's no doubt about it AI will not go away.

It's a continuous controversy over the possibility that AI could replace writers, editors, and concept designers, a majority of people are aware of the fact that AI is a fact of life and are currently evaluating its potential to change the processes of working. While at Cannes I listened to opinions of artists like will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas fame discuss the way in which AI will transform the way our work will change over the next decade. The majority of discussions focussed on how AI can quickly unleash the talent of people and alters creative processes.

I have been an artistic director for many years. I've chose to voice my opinions and use this as a way to start a discussion with my community.

What's what's next to get there?

Let's see the things that AI is capable of doing in the present.

"I was a magician before I began my filmmaking career. It is not long before you, after becoming an expert in magic, you will realize that the most sophisticated technology is indistinguishable from the magical. The art of performing magic could equally terrifying if don't know how it operates or what's going on. It's the same with me and AI for artists or people who make money through ideas projected by your brain onto the screen, AI is an incredibly scary issue since it can affect the work you do." Ben Proudfoot, Oscar-winning short directories, is Breakwater Studios' CEO. Breakwater Studios

Humans are naturally creative. It is a characteristic that artificial intelligence cannot reproduce effortlessly.
Midjourney went live in July 2022. ChatGPT was closely followed by ChatGPT next month during November in the same year. In the past, we've observed self-described "non-creatives" have access to the possibilities of creativity that was otherwise impossible due to inability to perform.

The outcomes of a few of these initiatives are impressive as are the tools that have evolved so rapidly you'll be having a hard time believing that these tools were created just one year ago.

AI will help you to present your ideas

Complex concepts for films, stories, images and music are hampered due to the required techniques and abilities required to bring these concepts to the screen.

This year's events have shown that images like these can be created with just a couple of keys:

Midjourney 5.2 is an entirely new time of AI images.

In just 48 hours, already, there have been some that are pushing the boundaries.

If you're a known creator like Oscar-winning filmmaker Hashem Al-Ghaili, your chance is greater.

Take a look at the AI-generated short film " Last Stand," which depicts how people would respond when aliens made contact.

"Last Stand | Sci-Fi Short Film produced by using Artificial Intelligence."

from @HashemGhaili

"Disclaimed It is not true that it is real. Production was mostly done by Al The company, who was in charge of making the script, composing it as well as conceiving concepts before producing each of the voices.

"AI will change the way we see the world in ways you've never considered," says Crystal Edmonds the Head of Accounts and Event Activation at Magnet Media Films. "I believe it will enhance our understanding. You'll learn about things that people never needed to be aware of. You'll see people discover a brand new aspect of their creative capabilities by using AI."

For instance, Staff Pick winner Paul Trillo's short film "Thank You for Not Answering."

Instead of aiming for authenticity The designer strives to achieve the dreamy style characteristic to Runway's Gen-2. "As someone who is required to leave a voicemail for someone who's not a part of their past, the person is overwhelmed with fragments from the past, and imagines a future that could be."

As a true artist He's adapting to the limits and potentials of his medium in order to make an original piece.

AI is a great instrument for evaluating and promoting concepts

It's not a secret that these are great examples examples of the ways in which AI can be used to communicate an artistic perspective, AI for commercial use is a relatively new idea.

Look at the artificially generated beer commercial. The commercial was created at the time, which means that it isn't considered to be legitimate if it was viewed as legitimate commercial.

It does provide enough information for transferring an idea to executive better than sketch or a moodboard elevator pitch ever.

Generative AI can be described to define the process by which it is not necessary to depend on your words to create a compelling image for 10 or more viewers: instead, it is possible to utilize the prompt of a description to produce the ideal sizzle film, animatics, also known as pre-visualizations to get viewers to accept a vision.

What are these sayings to today's artists?

Start to master how create a compelling prompt for AI.

"I believe that the upcoming generation of workers will be in a position to master the technologies available to us and begin making the use of generative AI for visual and written media," says Orlando Baeza chief marketing officer and the Chief Revenue Officer at Flock Freight. "I think there's a lot of growth potential in this field, but it will require improvement in the skills of our current workforce in addition to the possibility that the future generation of employees will be able to develop technologies."

AI is an excellent alternative to reduce the amount of time needed for production

Videomaking takes about two or the equivalent of three months from beginning to conclusion. The reality is that AI can speed up the production process, which allows producers to create new videos that are more unique and allows professionals in production to concentrate on tasks that require focused working.

"I believe that among the most significant issues in film production is the expense of making the film. There are barriers to entry that are extremely expensive. The entry requirements to make a film and one important aspect about films is the fact that they are accessible to all," continues Baeza. "So the moment AI and machine-learning software are able to aid anyone with only a handful of sources to make a film accessible to a wide viewers, it's surely something we should be happy about. Aren't you?"

AI is already helping to make film production simpler through the automation of tasks like processing of transcribing transcriptions and personalization, as well as planning. For instance, the removal or addition of items from the backgrounds of videos took a long, laborious procedure. However, AI does not need the Adobe Geneerative Fill tool.

"I believe that companies consider AI as efficiency and productivity improvement," says Baeza. "I believe that AI is a fantastic partner and will likely be a part of creative companies."

The issue is: AI isn't going to assist you with.

AI won't help be noticed.

Machine learning works by analysing data that has been used before and analyzing the patterns it ate before. In this case, for example, a machine-learning or artificial intelligence or an AI tool could come up with a beautiful picture of a blue-colored drink by analyzing the many thousands of photos it has taken of blue cup.

It's not about replicating the same ideas that have been tested before however, it's more the process of framing ideas in a fresh way and putting a fresh approach to old concepts or making a connection which nobody else has created. The words of Steve Jobs famously said:

"Some people say give the customers what they want, but this isn't exactly the way I work. The job of us is to know what the clients might need prior to giving them the things they need. I'm sure Henry Ford once said, If I had asked the customer what they were looking for, they would have told me the most speedy horse.' People don't understand what they're searching for until you inform them. It's our responsibility to make the things crystal clear, even if they're currently not evident on a page." Steve Jobs, Co-founder of Apple

Creativity is the result of both science and art. AI is incredibly adept when it comes to the science component of that equation.

Certain patterns are repeatable and formulaic are used in the industry and which AI is capable of reproducing like using the three-point rule or using a large red font to promote a sale. However, so far AI can't remain forward-looking. It can't detect virality, or give a new, fresh view that users can appreciate.

Creatives have good news. Make your mark with innovative ideas and use AI to bring your visions into existence.

AI can't reproduce the artistic procedure

One of the great benefits of creativity is that -regardless of how much of fineness your notion has, it develops into something of unique as it is developed. Everyone who comes in contact with your idea brings their unique perspective and experience on the concept, which results in a unique element that can't be imagined.

A film editor in the industry with whom I worked said that once "You may have recorded your storyboard, but the storyboard you made isn't relevant any more and I'm going to make use of the footage that I've got." When everything was filmed according to the plan laid out in the storyboard, editors could highlight certain aspects or alter items in a way that differed from the initial plan.

At present, I can't think of any way to use AI to mimic the creative process in this way.

AI isn't equipped with a distinct perspective that can contribute to the process of creation in the same way as a film editor or videographer might. Therefore, regardless of whether AI is used during the process of creation to speed up the thought process, and for editing, humans are a key part of the creation process.

Stay curious and keep your mind open

It's clear that AI could increase our capacity to express our thoughts, and it's a catalyst for the next generation of artists to be born and do feats we would've thought of. If I were to record this moment in terms that could describe the moment in question, I'd be excited and nervous because unlike anything from the past, we're looking towards the future.

As a matter of fact, I'm an individual who has a singular opinion and set of ideas. We must keep investigating the possibilities by adopting an open mind and fun as well as remain open and engage in a dialogue.

In case you're wondering what your views are about what you're working on? What is the method you're using to make use of AI now, and in what direction do you think AI will take to us?
