Black and white photographies - The CreativeMindClass Blog
We inquired with Titika what was the secret to the mysterious images in black and white.
"My moniker is Titika Rotkjaer, I'm an artist from Copenhagen, Denmark. After studies in communication in Roskilde University, Denmark, I moved to Norway to pursue a degree in visual arts initially at Oslo National Academy of the Arts then in Bergen in Bergen, where I concluded my visual art studies through the Bergen Academy of Art and Design which included an MA in Textile Art. I do not have formal instruction in photography. My knowledge about editing and photography is derived from my ongoing self-education.
Would you like to learn more about my personal style? Do I want to talk about expression rather than style? I never think about style... In telling stories from a poetic and personal perspective In each photograph I work intensively in determining mood, expression and the ambience. Developing how my images appear is a process. I always aim to refine and clarify the expression. Sometimes , I edit old photos in the event that I acquire new information that enables me to come closer to the expression I wanted to create.
The key to making the mysterious images I have created ...? In most of my images that I have created over the past four years, I've explored the complex and sense of self while focusing on the connection between inner and outer realities. Some of my photographs are not necessarily the same. are constructed digitally of several images (all obviously taken by me).
My approach usually begins by expressing an interest or curiosity to explore a theme or an array of emotions. I take pictures, make notes, and then read for greater knowledge. I then shoot again. Working with the images often inspires me to make an original image out of several other. I experiment, subjectively, and intuitively with the theme to let my photographs unfold. It's difficult to have an exact idea of the final product within my head, but I do I then photograph the elements that build the picture."
