Fantasy illustration The CreativeMindClass Blog

How would you describe your personal style?

It's somewhere between stylized as well as realistic fantasy illustration. I rely on a variety of colors that are muted and watery and tend to work with organic, flowing shapes. I believe that my "style" as an illustration artist is heavily dictated by my color palette and what subject matter I choose to draw but not always the way the painting is done. I was previously working in a much more line-oriented style but I've recently changed to a more loose and more painterly approach.

What's the secret to making your fantasy art illustrations?

I'm constantly re-examining them until the image is closest to how I envision it in my head (within the reason that I don't want to be able to spend months working on one painting). I try really hard to push my shapes to create just a poor image. I'd rather take lots of time to get the dreamy illustration perfect than rush through it.

Where can people see your fantasy illustrations?

I'll be participating in the upcoming "Oceans and Currents" exhibit at Gallery Nucleus in July! In the meantime I'm through Instagram. Prints are available for sale in my online store Bandcamp for those who are interested!

Additionally, I'm on YouTube as well as Bandcamp to those who are interested in my work since I'll be releasing more songs very shortly.

The Background of Brigitte

I earned my diploma from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and I am currently employed in the industry of entertainment arts as conceptual artist and illustrator. Additionally, I am working on a artistic project, known as Pearl Farm, for which I create illustrations. I also write and sing original songs.

Illustrations for the article are taken drawn from my own work, Pearl Farm. It's my original story and follows a travelling singer named Vinny and her pet Ray Hubble while they travel their way through a vast globe known as the Lofty Coastline.
