Here Is Why Mobile Learning is Important -

Dec 2, 2022

The importance of mobile learning cannot be undervalued. Indeed, you must avoid this at the risk of your own!

A shift is taking place with regards to how people utilize digital media.

Given this shift to mobile devices, it is crucial for instructional designers to know how they can develop their course to be practical with these mobile devices.

My personal view is that mobile learning will soon gain popularity as an alternative to traditional ways of learning through e-learning.

It doesn't mean that the e-learning industry is about to go away, it's just not true whatsoever. It'll still serve a purpose in the field of online learning.

In my opinion, however I'm of the view that mobile learning is going to overtake the elearning model we have today.

There is evidence of this all over the world. Take a look at the research studies mentioned in the infographic below (created in part by Origin Learning).

As with many infographics dedicated to mobile learning, this one focuses on the growing utilization (dependency) of mobile tools like smartphones and tablets, that in turn leads to an overall decrease in desktop and laptop computers.

In fact, a whopping 80% of internet users are doing so using smartphones!

These are figures that can't be missed in any industry or in the area of e-learning.

It's not "if" the mobile world is going to be significant, but "when". Some would argue that there is already a trend and may be right. However, it is only increasing in the near future.

If you're organization doesn't utilize any form of mobile-based learning, it's missing the vast potential.
