"Let's begin by defining the adjectives that best describe my work: bold as well as expressive, and rich."

What was the process of transferring from architecture to mixed-media illustrations?

"When it came time to decide on a career I was told, as other people, not to pursue a career in arts. And I listened. After completing a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Architecture and being utterly dissatisfied with my work behind the computer. Then , during my gap year following university, I began to create illustrations, paintings, and products with my own designs, and I've never been happier!

It all took off right before I got a job in an architectural office which I am now working on alongside my illustration business and recent studies in art historical studies. I am hoping to get rid of the position of corporate architect in the near future and focus fully on the art I love and using mixed media techniques.

I'm hoping that my experience will help people who are undecided about which subject to pursue to understand that a degree in art is not important, you can be an artist with any background and the best thing is, this will give your work a distinctive look. Naturally, attending an art college must be a fantastic time!"

How would you describe the style of your illustrations?

"I consider that the process of describing your style is a difficult task. I was forced to talk to my acquaintances about this and their descriptions of it couldn't be more accurate. They said my art looks as if everything I paint appears being moved by the wind as if it can be seen blowing over the artwork and dropping colors on everything it touches. I could not have a better way to describe my work than that.

I love layering textures as well as mixing a wide range of colors. I'm the ultimateist in this regard. If I am able to restrict a color palette, the wider the color range gets.

If we look at some of my topic options, some of my most favorite subjects to draw are landscapes that feature mountains and the ocean, since it is a reminder of my childhood home in Tenerife is a charming little island that lies in the Atlantic ocean.

In addition, I create human-like characters that have exaggerated features as well as vibrant skin. Of the course, I include some architectural element - the six years of studying architecture will be visible in my work."

What is the key for creating mixed-media artwork?

"I consider that the secret to making my art is not planning too much beforehand. To be fair, this technique sometimes works and it sometimes doesn't However, not being too much about the outcome really gives you the freedom to experiment while painting.

I like seeing how I color and painting and changing my mind on my final work. The work reveals my connection to the paper, to my surroundings, as well as to my paint and you will see my process of decision-making to the end product.

I enjoy being able work with my hands to mix my own paints. All you require to create my art is a lot of various materials (doesn't need to be anything fancy, but I do enjoy mixing mediums) and a loose hand, and the courage to layer paint and start from scratch."
