The first day jitters are over and your students have begun to settle into their new surroundings, it's time to focus on the core of your homework. This is why we've created a feature to help keep things running smoothly and on schedule.
The latest update to Courses: built-in content dripping!
Like a well-planned program, our brand new course content dripping feature ensures your students receive their lessons in just the right doses at the exact time they need them.
No more overwhelming your students by imposing too much on them in one go or having them sprint ahead. Dripping allows you to deliver your course material in manageable chunks and keep your students interested and looking forward to what's coming up next.
This new feature is constantly evolving to meet the needs of your students which makes it more simple than ever to structure and manage the content of your online courses.
What is Course Content Dripping?
There have been times when we've had these moments... binge-watching a whole television show in one weekend, staying up all night turning page after page of a brand new novel or suddenly realizing that you've finished off a full bag of cookies... completely by yourself ().
Although a treat may be satisfying at first however, we often end up feeling unfulfilled afterward.
Learning can be the same method. Students who absorb too much information too quickly this can result in:
- Fear: Worrying they missed some important detail or made a mistake.
- Regret: Wishing they had been patient enough to grasp the subject.
- Doubt: Questioning if they actually comprehended the information.
- Insanity: You feel overwhelmed by all the information you need at one time.
They're not the kind of feelings you want students to feel following the completion of your course.
This is where course Dripping of content comes into play!
Instead of distributing all the information to students at once, course drips let you distribute information at regular intervals. This approach helps them learn more slowly with each class, remain engaged and absorb information more effectively.
What Differences Does Content Dripping Make for Your Class?
1. Create Knowledge one step at a time
Instead of allowing students access to all the content at once, dripping allows each lesson or module according to a set arrangement, helping them develop their understanding gradually.
This method is designed to help students feel proud of their success and progress when they progress through the curriculum.
Think of your course as a sort of stairwell, with each step being the beginning of a new learning experience. The students must be able to master the first stage before moving onto the next. This ensures they are able to grasp fundamental concepts before they can tackle more advanced concepts.
2. Keep Students Interested and Engaged
Students are informed that they will be receiving new materials regularly, it builds anticipation and interest. It keeps them focused, as they're always looking forward to the next lesson or course.
They are accustomed to setting aside time for each new lesson, which will increase the chance of them staying connected and committed to the program from beginning until the end.
3. Deliver Content at Just the Right Moment
Course content dripping gives the full freedom to choose the timing and method by which your lessons are released, aligning them perfectly with your course timetable.
If you're trying to introduce a difficult concept that requires additional attention or getting ready to tackle a major task that takes more time, content dripping allows you to alter the presentation of your materials to suit the needs of both your students and the course goal.
4. Aid Everyone to Learn at the Same Time
Course content dripping is an effective method of keeping the students moving with a regular pace, ensuring no one is advancing too fast or falls from behind.
In releasing information at scheduled intervals, you can create a cohesive learning environment that allows everyone to progress together.
Furthermore, since everyone is working together, you will be able to easily identify and address those areas where students could require extra help, making sure nobody falls through the cracks.
5. Help to Make Learning Meaningful and Manageable
Learning should be something students are able to enjoy and not an overwhelming process. If all the course content is presented simultaneously the students can experience excessive stress and anxiety.
Dripping of course content provides a more student-friendly approach by delivering lessons in smaller and manageable chunks.
Instead of having to learn everything all at once, students can take in information at a comfortable speed, which makes the learning process feel more individual and attainable.
By spacing out the content it also provides feelings of accomplishment to your students after they finish each section. This steady progression helps maintain the students' enthusiasm, and keep them motivated to continue the learning process.
Shortly, course Dripping can be a very effective technique which helps to keep your students focused, motivated, and focused. It's a simple yet effective way to transform how you teach your lessons, which makes learning more enjoyable to everyone who participates.
NEW Built-in Course Content Dripping: Simplifying Rules for Courses
Making sure that course content drips used to be an arduous task with numerous steps and configurations. The process was effective however, let's face it - it wasn't the most efficient way to go about it.
We realized that there was a need for a efficient solution, and so we've integrated our Rules feature into the Courses extension. Now, setting up your drip schedules is much simpler and more user-friendly.
With the new built-in dripping feature, you can create drip calendars and schedules, without needing to quit the builder for curriculum. This will not only help you save time but also makes sure that your course materials are protected and released according to plan.
It is also possible to personalize drip messages in the settings. It's simple to inform your students on the time when the next release of content will be available. This can help maintain expectations and keep everyone on the same page.
With our attention to the technical details by taking care of the technical details, you're free to focus on what needs to be done: creating high-quality instructional content.
How to Set Up the Course Content Dripping feature in the Courses
If your students are rushing ahead, let's organize your course content in a way that keeps them on pace and fully in the course in front of them.
As we mentioned a little while ago, Courses utilizes Rules for powering content drip.
That being said: Any drip settings applied through Rules are in conflict with Dripping option built into your course's configurations.
So...
- for a simple and easy experience If you would like your lessons to distribute content according to a set schedule (like the release of new lessons every week) the new built-in drip function is the most convenient option. It makes it easier to manage and provides a reliable delivery without any extra setup.
- for more personal control: If you need the freedom to make content available at irregular or highly customized intervals, using Rules can give you this control. However, this approach requires a bit more time and effort to set up additional Rules.
Make it Simple: Let's Get Your Drip Content Flowing Smoothly!
In order to set up the course content dripping, start by toggling off the "Enable Dripping" option in your course setting.
After that, you'll need to define how content will drip - by section or by individual items. It is also possible to set the frequency (daily, weekly, or even monthly) as well as the beginning day and time zone of each release of content:

What's next for courses? or Should We Be Saying, What's New...
Course Dripping could be the most recent and best feature we've released for Courses, but it's certainly not the sole update we've made recently.
Before diving into the dripping water, we'll look through some of the other amazing modifications you may have observed in the plugin.
As we continue to enhance the tools you can use for your online classes, we came to the realization that the increasing number of tools - such as Lessons, Quizzes, Assignments and even the Gradebook required their own dedicated space.
We've also given Courses their own menu item within the WordPress dashboard.
Now, everything related to your course - be it creating a new course and constructing your own curriculum and tweaking your course's settings - can be managed directly from the Courses menu in the Dashboard.
Making Courses separate from its own menu item allows you to keep your course creation and management of membership tasks separate This is particularly useful when your company relies on both.
If you're a user then you've probably noticed this slight rearrangement. We hope you're finding this new layout easier to use and less cluttered!
However, if you're new to and eager to start building your courses You may be asking where to find all these amazing features.
Just hop into the plugin and navigate to the Add-Ons tab and do a quick search on "course" to narrow down your choices, and you'll discover all of the education tools that have grown larger than the plugin's own:
Stay tuned for more new enhancements and improvements coming in the near future. However, for the moment, benefit from the brand new course content dripping feature, and explore the additional enhancements we've implemented to help make your creation of courses experience smoother than ever!
