The MRR as well as the ARR calculation

Prior to this upgrade, downgrades and add-ons were occasionally not recorded or properly handled in subscription reporting. This issue has been fixed in the past, and calculations should be more correct going forward.

What are the changes I should see at My Store?

If you're an avid users of downgrades, upgrades or additional features You may notice that the MRR and ARR change slightly resulting from the updated calculation. The calculations are more precise than the previous ones, thanks to these fixes. If you still have questions, please reach out to [email protected].

The past is a part of history. MRR Changes

In the past, we relied on the date of deactivation to search on the date of cancellation and would then remove MRR contributions, which had an unintended consequence of altering historical MRR values. In order to address this issue the issue, we've updated our analytical tools to detect cancellation events that occur on the day of cancellation and remove MRR contributions at the time of cancellation.

Examples of changes

Let's take an example of the annual subscription which was activated in January 2023, canceled in May 2023, then deactivated in December 2023. The prior MRR contribution calculation would not be changed until the end of December 2023. It could also alter the MRR contribution over the course between May and December 2023.

Now, with the dates as in the previous example, our calculation immediately takes away the MRR contribution of the contract, beginning at cancellation in May of 2023, resulting in a more accurate MRR change calculation.

What changes should I expect to see In My Store?

For some sellers, this may cause a slight increase in the number of cancellations, and also an increase in the MRR of active customers as well as subscriptions. If you have any questions regarding this report, you can contact us at [email protected].
